San Ramon Community Centers

San Ramon, in Contra Costa County, is one of California’s premier cities of the San Francisco Bay Area. It has three fine community centers to provide services and event venues to the residents of San Ramon:

  • San Ramon Community Center at Central Park
  • Dougherty Station Community Center
  • Alcosta Senior and Community Center, Park and Gardens.

These community centers in San Ramon offer a variety of multiuse venues to suit the different types of events residents may wish to host, including birthday parties, wedding receptions, community events, theater screenings, meetings, conferences, or business presentations. The centers are all set in beautiful gardens and surroundings, and have rooms and halls of various sizes with additional facilities for hosting your event. San Ramon residents, adults and children, have access to a variety of services and classes, organized by the City of San Ramon together with the centers.

San Ramon Community Center at Central Park, a beautiful rose granite and glass structure set in lovely landscaped gardens with pools and fountains, next to Central Park in San Ramon, is a popular community hub. It is the center for many of San Ramon’s community activities, and its dance studio and art room with ceramics workshop offer classes for the entire family. The San Ramon Community Center and its rooms take advantage of its location with great banks of windows offering beautiful vistas from every room. It also houses the Lindsay Dirkx Brown Art Gallery on both its floors. The Rose Garden and Amphitheater are popular venues for ceremonies and private celebrations such as weddings.

  • The Fountain Room is ideal for large events, with 5,200 sq. ft. floor area. It is a spacious hall with a high half-domed ceiling and windows offering spectacular views of Central Park and the lovely Rose Garden and fountain just outside, seating 250 for dining, or 300 for theater-style seating or standing receptions. It has a 190 sq. ft. stage with a screen for projection, a 360 sq. ft. portable dance floor, and access to a caterer’s kitchen.
  • The Terrace Room, 1,824 sq. ft. floor area, with a beautiful view of the fountain courtyard between the Center and the Park, and full of warm natural light from the 40-foot sweep of windows, is suitable for smaller, more intimate events such as dinners or cocktail parties, seating 80 for dining, 150 for theater style seating for business presentations or for standing receptions, and 40 for conferences. It has access to a kitchenette and the terrace. Guests enter through a 905 sq. ft. gallery which features different works of art every month.
  • The Alcosta Room has a floor area of 800 sq. ft. and is great for small parties of up to 50, accommodating 40 for dining, 75 for theater style seating or receptions and 30 for conferences. This pleasant high-ceilinged room has access to the patio.
  • Two multiuse rooms (101 and 102), at 390 sq. ft. each, are perfect for smaller gatherings, holding 25 for theater-style seating or for receptions, and 20 for conferences. They are ideal for small board meetings or presentations.
  • The Rose Garden holds 75 seated guests and 175 standing;  the Amphitheater seats 250. The maximum seating capacity outdoors for ceremonies is 250.

Dougherty Station Community Center, located on Bollinger Avenue, San Ramon, offers a variety of spaces for your specific requirements. The Center also houses the Dougherty Station Library, a joint-use facility serving the town as well as Diablo Valley College, and has computer labs with 40 public computers and free Wi-Fi access. The Center offers various classes and programs for San Ramon families.

  • Ridgeview Room, with 4,780 sq. ft. floor area, accommodates 250 for dining, as well as for theater style seating or receptions.
  • Front Row Theater has an area of 1,194 sq. ft., a stage, and seats 90.
  • The kitchen, with 967 sq. ft. floor area, is professionally equipped for caterers and culinary classes, and can seat 25.
  • The West Meeting Room, floor area of 496 sq. ft., seats 30 for conferences, classes, or lectures.
  • The Library Community Room is available for meetings and classes, and has access to the patio.

Dougherty Station Community Center, 17011 Bollinger Canyon Road, San Ramon 

Alcosta Senior and Community Center, Park & Gardens, located on Alcosta Boulevard, San Ramon, is a charming building set in beautiful gardens. The Center is the hub of a number of activities and services for San Ramon’s senior citizens. Besides providing a meeting place and healthy lunches, the Center offers computer and fitness classes; transport to and from the center, as well as for weekly shopping trips; day trips and vacations, health check ups; help with taxes and housing information; involvement in volunteer jobs and community service; and much more. Evenings see the Center’s activities opening up to San Ramon residents of all ages.

Vista Grande Room (A & B) accommodates 115 for dining, 180 for theater style seating or receptions.  This upscale banquet hall can be divided into two rooms, each seating 50 for dining, 75 for theater style seating or receptions. You also have access to a kitchen with staff. The Vista Grande Room opens out to a terrace, to extend your event outdoors, where the Victorian-style gazebo, surrounded by rose bushes and overlooking an expansive lawn, is perfect for a special event such as a wedding ceremony.
