San Ramon Skating and Skate Parks

San Ramon’s skating rink and skate park are the perfect places to go if you are looking for a fun way to entertain the kids. Or if you are feeling up to it, the skating rink is a great family activity or time spent with friends. Roller skating and in-line skating are also good activities to burn some calories while you are having fun.

The Golden Skate

The Golden Skate is San Ramon’s very own skating rink. Unsure about your skating legs? The Golden Skate offers skating lessons and is open for free skating when you are ready to make the rounds. You can rent skates or bring your own. Fun programs include zumba and All You Can Skate night.  Adult Night Skate Sessions are on Wednesdays and you must be 21 to participate.

There’s a Roller Hockey league for children. The Golden Skate can also be rented for parties and events. Check the site for coupons and specials.

Central Park's Skate Park

Central Park's Skate Park is adjacent to the basketball courts off Bollinger Canyon Road. It is a spacious sized skate park with ramps, bowls, rails, and stairs. It’s a popular place for skaters and skateboarders who come to practice and show off their moves. The park is lighted. For those accompanying skaters and there is a shaded viewing area and picnic tables to relax at.

To help provide a safe environment for younger children, on weekends the park allows only kids 11 years old and under to use the park before 11 a.m. Skaters must wear helmets. Knee pads, elbow pads, and wrist guards are encouraged but not enforced.

Ice Skating

The ice skating rink closest to San Ramon is the Dublin Iceland. The venerable rink has been open since 1975 and is a local favorite. Ice skating celebrities Kristi Yamaguchi and Rudy Galindo trained at Dublin Iceland.

Dublin Iceland offers lessons at its skating school for beginners and advanced skaters. Figure skating students can take freestyle sessions from professional instructors at private lessons. Students can also join synchronized skating teams.

Dublin Iceland can be rented for parties and events. Regular events hosted by the rink include adult hockey pick-up games, senior games, and broomball.
